We also use Sunnen equipment to resize connecting rods, pin bushing and pistons as well. Not only do we hone rods and pistons to a specific clearance for the use intended for but we also make sure the holes are straight and free of taper and bellmouth. We have seen resized rods with as much as .002 taper or bell mouth in them! This is terrible!

We have a digital scale to balance engines with and a Hines Computerized Crank Balancer that will balance down to 1/10 of a gram! We try to get cranks as close to zero as possible, not just the 2 gram tolerance called for for a racing engine! For high revving engines we can also fill in the holes made in the counter weights by balancing it and grind them smooth so the crank appears like it was never drilled on! This can help in controlling windage when those holes pass close by the block! We strive for the best functioning and best looking part we can when we are finished.

We also have a Sunnen line hone where we can line hone the block so the main housing bores are all the same with no taper. We hone to exacting tolerances, not to within the .001 tolerance specified by the manufacturer! All sharp edges are deburred when we are finished!
